Portugal Life Compass exists for one reason: most of what you read online about moving to Portugal — taxes, visas, property, pensions, crypto — is either outdated, oversimplified, or simply wrong. We make short, calm, carefully verified videos and guides that treat you like an adult making a serious financial decision.
Who this is for
Remote professionals weighing a move, retirees planning life on a foreign pension, and investors or entrepreneurs who need to understand how Portugal actually taxes them. Everything is in plain English, built for an international audience.
How we verify — our editorial rule
Every legal or tax statement we publish is checked against official sources only before it ships:
- Diário da República — Portugal's official gazette, consolidated legislation;
- Portal das Finanças — the Portuguese Tax Authority;
- AIMA and official government portals — for immigration and residency;
- EUR-Lex — for EU law.
If a claim cannot be verified in those sources, it does not get published — we say so, or we leave it out. We never cite "probable" article numbers or second-hand summaries. Each episode is built on a written verification dossier, and every page and video carries the date its rules were checked ("Rules as of July 2026"). When the law changes — and in Portugal it changes every year with the State Budget — we update.
How we work
The channel publishes a new episode every Thursday, with short versions on YouTube Shorts. Research, scripting and production make intensive use of AI tools under human editorial control; verification against official sources is the step that never gets automated away.
